This is updated information regarding school closures as Hurricane Milton approaches. In reviewing the changes to the speed of the storm, Superintendent Shanoff has canceled all Osceola public schools on both Wednesday, October 9, and Thursday, October 10. Again, there will be no school on Wednesday and Thursday of this week. The district will continue to closely monitor the impacts of the storm with Osceola County Emergency Management before making any decisions about school on Friday of this week to ensure the safety of our students and staff. Please prepare for the approaching storm and stay safe.
The district’s Extended Day/Learning Program will operate as normal on both Monday and Tuesday.
Florida Executive Order 24-214 declares that a State of Emergency exists in Osceola County. The District has made the decision, in accordance with the provisions set forth in the Executive Order 24-214 to cancel the School Board Meeting for October 8, 2024. The meeting will be held during the previously scheduled special meeting on October 22, 2024.
Wednesday, October 9, and Thursday, October 10 — All SDOC schools and school district operations will be closed. Employees will not report to work unless deemed essential by the supervisor (i.e. Maintenance Department).
